Several years ago, I was building out my garden. At the time we lived in British Columbia, Canada and, for the first time, the plants I had planted, grew. It was the joy of seeing nature so vibrant and close inspired me to pick up my pencils again.
I started sketching the plants and vegetables in my garden and it was if these plants were more than leaves, blooms and fruit. I saw the energy, the pulse and I wanted to capture it in pencil or pencil crayon.
Thus began my journey. I have no formal art training other than 5 years of high school art class but I have never felt freer to capture the world around me than now.
Unlike at school where you worry about composition, technique and building a portfolio – these works I have created because I wanted to. The pieces here have been created over the years.
It is my pleasure to share these with you.
With love,
Kath
